People & Organization
Almost every company will at some point be affected by special situations and challenges that go beyond their normal business operations, whether it's strategic realignments, transactions or profit and liquidity crises. Often, companies lack the necessary management skills and time internally to handle the situation successfully and navigate through uncharted waters. This is where Roland Berger IMPEX (Interim Management Performance Executives) comes in. Our experienced interim managers bring in precisely the missing management skills your company needs in order to overcome temporary challenges by taking on management responsibility for a transitional period. Their deployment can be tailored to your needs and supplemented by an experienced and well-aligned team.
Interim management at CxO level
Interim managers from Roland Berger IMPEX can take over the complete operational management of your company as interim CEO or CFO; they can do this either in place of your existing executives or in addition to them. To ensure that interim managers can take whatever actions are necessary during the implementation of a transformation project or strategic realignment, they can also assume a managing director or board member role. This means they can act as key decision-makers and drive the company's development and all necessary measures across the entire organization for a certain period of time.
Roland Berger IMPEX also provides support if your company or individual parts of your business need to be restructured, for example to improve liquidity or business results or to initiate a long-term evolution of the business model. Interim managers will then assume the role of Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) in the relevant business units, where they will analyze the situation on the ground, develop a comprehensive restructuring plan, align with the key stakeholders and financial backers and be responsible for the plan's operational implementation. If necessary, they can draw on extensive support from Roland Berger consultants with restructuring expertise.
Alternatively, our interim managers with their broad-ranging operational experience can also assume responsibility for delivering complex performance or value creation programs, for example in the role of Chief Transformation Officer (CTO).
For all of these assignments and more, we will select the interim managers specifically so that their respective skills profile best matches your requirements as our client. In addition, we will develop precise action plans together with you and monitor their implementation through regular tracking. This means we can achieve a high level of security and take countermeasures at an early stage in the event of any deviations.
Transformation management
Interim managers from Roland Berger IMPEX support clients throughout all of the processes involved in a corporate transformation. For example, they will coordinate all relevant activities in a carve-out or post-merger integration and ensure that the transfer processes run smoothly and risks for the companies are minimized. If you need to close down a business entity, they will handle the planning and implementation of the exit strategy taking account of stakeholders, interfaces and dependencies, and they will create suitable communication plans, thus guaranteeing you as the owners a successful, structured closure.
You can also benefit from the expertise of Roland Berger IMPEX if you are having quality or efficiency problems in production plants. Based on their many years of operational experience, for example as COO or plant manager, our interim managers will work with the people in the affected areas of your company to develop bespoke solutions, implement them rigorously and thus achieve the targets you've set for costs, lead times or quality.
Senior advisors
The experts from Roland Berger IMPEX have many years of C-level experience, which they also make available to companies in a coaching role as senior advisors on projects as required. In this role, they will support and advise your management or new executives on the ground, put together individual development and implementation plans and thus enable stronger and faster project implementation. Senior advisors are situated outside your company's formal hierarchy and will work closely with your Advisory/Supervisory Board or Management/Executive Board. Their role also involves the joint evaluation and tracking of progress and target achievement.
