Alexander Schmithausen
Dr. Alexander Schmithausen is a Director at Roland Berger IMPEX, based in the Munich office. With more than a decade of extensive experience in the healthcare sector, he has become an expert in managing change and leading strategic development initiatives.
Alexander Schmithausen started his career in 2013 as a project manager in the strategy and corporate development department of a private hospital group in Germany. Demonstrating his strong leadership skills, he soon took the head of the heart center at a renowned university hospital in southern Germany.
In 2018, he embarked on a venture into management consulting in London, where he was responsible for overseeing due diligence and commercial due diligence projects with a focus on the European healthcare sector.
Alexander Schmithausen ventured into entrepreneurship, providing expert guidance to private equity firms navigating the healthcare market. His expertise was particularly influential in the execution of buy and build strategies.
However, his passion for operational leadership led him back to direct management roles where he implemented the strategic restructuring of a hospital group and managed the merger of two hospital networks, demonstrating his skills in organisational transformation.
Alexander Schmithausen has shared his knowledge and insights as guest professor at institutions including LMU, the Max Planck Institute and King's College, Cambridge University, specialising in health economics.
Alexander Schmithausen holds a Master's degree in Management and Finance from the University of Edinburgh, complemented by a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Munich. To further enhance his expertise, he completed an Executive Management Programme in Health Economics at INSEAD Business School.
